Hello, I’m Alison Busby, a professional wedding photographer covering Oxfordshire and beyond.
I specialise in quietly capturing all the natural moments that happen throughout your wedding day. And, if you’re having a few portraits as well, I’ll add just enough direction to make you feel relaxed and look your best.

No one likes being photographed, including me, so I’ve developed a few techniques to help you stay calm in front of the camera while I capture a handful of beautiful portraits in amongst all the candid moments.

Full day wedding photography
My full day wedding photography service provides eight hours coverage of your Oxford wedding celebrations. You can decide whether the photography begins with bridal prep and goes to the first dance or starts later to give you more coverage of your evening entertainment with guests.
Micro wedding photography
My micro wedding package is a three-hour session, ideal for small weddings. In three hours, you can get coverage of guest arrival, ceremony, family photos and bride and groom portraits. You can also tack on another hour if three hours isn’t quite enough.
Editing and photo retouching
Images from all of my wedding packages are edited for exposure, colour balance, sharpness and cropping as part of the package. I also offer retouching services including, removing blemishes, diminishing wrinkles and improving skin tone; these are available for an additional fee per image.
Destination elopement photography
My destination elopement photography service is an opportunity to create timeless memories in Oxfordshire’s most picturesque and iconic locations, such as the Cotswolds, Blenheim Palace, Oxford Botanic Garden and Oxford city centre. Sunset and twilight photography
Sunset and twilight photography is available with all full-day wedding packages in Oxfordshire and is an opportunity to create some romantic hero shots for your wedding album or wall art.
Astro portraits and night photography
If you’re getting married between October and the end of March in a dark country location, and there’s a clear night sky, you can also be photographed with the stars or the moon. Typically during winter months, sunset and twilight photography will take place in late afternoon and night photography comes a bit later.
Storybook wedding albums
My storybook wedding albums provide you with a creative way to document your lives together. Include images from your engagement session, wedding day and trash the dress session to tell the story of your journey together.
Alison’s photos are beautiful – she took so much care to really capture the moments in an authentic way. There was too much emotion for one day, so it’s great to go through the pics and re-live all the highs of the day!

Venues
A VIEW OF OXFORDSHIRE
If you haven’t booked your wedding just yet, you might want to consider some of these stunning wedding venues in Oxfordshire.
Ardington House
Ardington House is an early Georgian country house near to Ardington Village in Oxford. The house is owned by the Baring family, perhaps best known as the family of bankers that established Barings Bank in 1762.
Ardington House is licensed for wedding ceremonies; you can get married inside the house in the Imperial Hall or outside on Temple Island. Temple Island has capacity for 300 guests and the Imperial Hall can accommodate up to 60 guests.
In addition to hosting your wedding, this beautiful waterside venue provides a perfect location for photography and any Oxford wedding photography will love you for choosing it. It only has guest accommodation for up to 25 people so your guests need to stay over, you will need to find other accommodation nearby.
Ashmolean Museum
Founded in 1683, the Ashmolean Museum is part of the University of Oxford. Centrally located amongst Oxford’s famous spires, the Ashmolean Museum is a unique venue for celebrating a wedding.
Inside the museum, there’s plenty to explore with your Oxford wedding photography and lots of interesting portraits that could be created in combination with some of the gallery exhibits.
The neo-classical architecture, iconic entrance and grand sweeping staircases provide a dramatic selection of stunning and romantic backdrops for your celebrations.
The Ashmolean is licensed to hold daytime and evening ceremonies for up to 1000 guests.
Immediately outside the museum, there’s not too much to photograph but if you’re willing to take a short walk, you can be amongst some of the most stunning architectural backdrops the UK has to offer.
Belmond le manoir Quat’ Saisons
Le manoir Quat’ Saisons is a 15th century luxury wedding venue in the South Oxfordshire village of Great Milton. Set in secluded private gardens and surrounded by the outstanding natural beauty of the Chiltern countryside, you might struggle to find a more intimate setting for your wedding. The hotel can host everything from the smallest wedding up to 120 guests.
Make no mistake however, small is not cheap when it comes to this Oxfordshire wedding venue. Having said that, it pales alongside the next venue on my list.
Blenheim Palace
Set in over 2000 acres of landscaped park lands and probably the grandest of all wedding venues in the county, Blenheim Palace is a dream venue and a magnificent location for a wedding celebration.
The 18th century Baroque palace has six venue options suitable for up to 2000 guests. These range from the stunning Orangery and Marlborough room for your ceremony to the impressive Great Hall and ornate Long Library for dinner and drinks receptions. There’s also the Water Terraces for music and dancing.
Unlike many of the city centre wedding venues, Blenheim Palace is not going to be a problem for parking although, because of public access, there may limitations on where you can shoot around the venue.
Bodleian Library
The Bodleian Library is one of Europe’s oldest libraries, second only to the British Library in the UK. It’s also an exquisite venue for a wedding. The Bodleian Library is housed in a remarkable group of buildings at the heart of the University of Oxford.
The Library has two rooms licensed for civil weddings and civil partnerships – Divinity School and Convocation House.
Divinity School is a magnificent room with a striking stone-carved ceiling and large arched gothic windows that benefit from having a westerly aspect. For seated wedding receptions, the Divinity School can accommodate up to 120 guests.
Convocation House is used to host wedding ceremonies and can seat up to one-hundred guests. It features a stunning fan-vaulted ceiling and intricately carved woodwork with chapel-style seating, including fixed benches. Chancellor’s Court provides an anteroom for Convocation House.
Outside the Library, guests can enjoy an intimate cocktail after your ceremony in the Old Schools Quad.
Wander out a little further with your wedding photographer and your wedding album will look like stills from a film.
For example, the Wren door is a picturesque location for romantic portraits. The Bridge of Sighs, the Clarendon steps, the Radcliffe Camera and even the famous red telephone box beyond the Clarendon Quad will also be wonderful photo locations for your Oxford wedding photos.
Bourton Hall
Bourton Hall is an Italian Renaissance Country Mansion set in 15 acres of picturesque grounds with views across the Warwickshire countryside. It has several elegant, spacious rooms with charming period features that make it a perfect wedding venue and backdrop for your Oxfordshire wedding photographer.
It even has its own former Catholic chapel where couples can marry, as well offering outdoor ceremonies in the summer under the portico adjoining the front terrace, and winter ceremonies in the Italian room.
Bourton Hall has capacity for between 40 and 250 guests an can also provide on-site accommodation, for you and some of your guests.
Cosener’s House
Situated in Abingdon in the heart of Oxfordshire on the banks of the River Thames, Cosener’s House is a beautiful 19th century property. The house, which is built on the site of Abingdon Abbey, is licensed for civil ceremonies and offers a choice of three function rooms accommodating up to 150 guests.
Guests can toast you in Cosener’s lush secluded gardens to the front and rear of the property, as well as relaxing on the riverbank.
Dovecote Events
Located at Bo Peep Farm in Adderbury Oxfordshire. Dovecote Events is a family-run business specialising in rustic and festival-style weddings and events. The site offers stunning 360 countryside views, an historic Grade II barn and a magnificent tipi; in my view, it’s a perfect for a summer wedding in Oxfordshire.
For more intimate celebrations, the Dovecote Barn is a truly romantic option. It can accommodate up to 100 people and is licenced for civil marriages, partnership ceremonies, and vow renewals. The barn has a covered walkway to the bar area and toilets so you won’t need to go outside if it rains.
If you’re having a larger celebration, Dovecote has three enormous, interconnected tipis where you can enjoy a festival-style wedding. The tipi can hold 120 people for your ceremony and up to 200 people for an evening reception.
Estelle Manor (formerly Eynsham Hall)
Set in 3,000 acres of rolling parkland, the Grade II listed Oxfordshire hotel offers a quirky mix of elegant period features with a contemporary design twist.
The hotel has recently undergone major refurbishment but is not currently licenced for wedding ceremonies. Its is available for event hire and can seat up to 60 guests for a meal which may be sufficient for a smaller wedding celebration.
In the beautifully landscaped gardens with fountains and terraces, you’ve got everything you need for a dream wedding day along with the perfect photo backdrop for wedding photos.
Greenlands at Henley
Another interesting waterside wedding venue is Greenlands at Henley, part of the University of Reading Campus. The 19th century grand white building stands majestically on the plot, surrounded by rolling lawns stretching down to the water and providing the perfect backdrop.
Greenlands has two licensed ceremony rooms for up to 120 guests. You also have the option of hosting your reception outside in the venue’s heated marquee. Accommodation is available in the Thames Court building on the site which has 100 en-suite double rooms.
Heythrop Park
A perfect example of 18th century Georgian architecture, Heythrop Park is a magnificent wedding venue in west Oxfordshire. For your ceremony, you can choose from the Orangery, overlooking the Italian gardens or the Enstone Suite, with its private foyer and bar.
For larger celebrations, Heythrop has its own permanent marquee which has capacity for up to 800 guests. The park has 358 bedrooms and ample on-site parking.
When you get married in the main house, you also have access to all the grounds and the opportunities for photos are endless.
Kingston Bagpuize House

Less than 20 minutes from the centre of Oxford, Kingston Bagpuize House is a triumph in renaissance architecture.
For ceremonies, the venue offers several options, including the front lawn, with the house as your back drop and the avenue of Wellingtonias on either side. For up to 120 guests, you can also host your ceremony under the Woodland Garden Pavilion, surrounded by foliage and greenery. If you’d prefer to be inside the house, the Drawing Room can hold up to 97 guests.
Finally, Kingston Bagpuize Hous also features a permanent marquee able to accommodate up to 350 guests.
Kirtlington Park
Kirtlington Park is a gorgeous Palladian mansion and an exclusive private wedding venue suitable for both intimate and larger scale weddings. The charming Saloon offers the ideal atmosphere for your wedding ceremony.
The Saloon has doors leading to the gardens and the Great Hall, which can host up to 145 guests for dinner. The Saloon is also perfect for your evening entertainment.
The stylishly adorned drawing room and the Monkey room, with its famous painted ceiling, offer the perfect escape for a little alone time or some elegant wedding photographs. The sweeping staircase in classic mahogany provides another great opportunity for your photography.
Lains Barn
Lains Barn is an idyllic wedding venue situated in the heart of rural Oxfordshire, close to Wantage. A splendid barn set in its own expansive grounds with the rolling countryside beyond, the barn offers exclusive use for your special day.
Lains Barn is licensed for civil ceremonies but you can just hire it for your reception if you’re getting married somewhere else; it can accommodate up to 250 guests.
Hire of the venue includes the stunning main barn, the covered outdoor byre, a large indoor byre with its own custom- built bar and a large lawned courtyard. Lains Barn retains many original features including rustic beams, a unique wood tiled floor, an old manger and a quirky grain-store.
Merriscourt
Here’s a venue I can’t wait to photograph, Merriscourt in Chipping Norton. Sitting in 500 acres of glorious Cotswold countryside, this fabulous wedding venue provides the perfect setting for an opulent celebration and some stunning photo opps.
Three interlinked barns can accommodate up to 130 guests for an indoor ceremony and wedding breakfast. The stone barn, courtyard, gallery and white barn not only play host to your celebration but also provide exquisite backdrops for photos with your Oxford wedding photographer.

ilton Hill House
Milton Hill House dates back to the 18th century and has played host to royalty and nobility.
When it comes to your wedding celebrations, Milton Hill gives you a number of options.
For larger weddings, the Wisteria room has capacity for 140 guests at your ceremony and up to 200 for evening celebrations. The Library is available for smaller more intimate weddings of up to 30 guests. You can also host an outdoor wedding in the picturesque pergola.
Both inside and outside the venue, Milton Hill has many lovely features you’ll want to discuss with your photographer.
Milton Hill House has 120 modern bedrooms, providing ample accommodation for guests wishing to stay overnight.
Minster Mill
Historic Minster Mill is set on the banks of the River Windrush in 65 acres of Cotswold countryside. You’ll love the wildflower meadows and peaceful woodland in mid summer.
This luxury wedding venue has all the ingredients you could possibly need for a perfect wedding celebration.
The mill offers indoor and outdoor ceremony options; the Garden Temple is superb for up to 100 guests in the summer. On cooler days, the Malthouse can cater for 80 guests and the Barn for up to 60. For larger garden weddings, up to 190 guests, Minster Mill has space for a marquee in the gardens.
Guest accommodation is available in 38 newly refurbished rooms.
Newington House
The magnificent mansion and grounds of Newington House are available for exclusive hire, providing the peaceful setting for a wonderful wedding day. The house is licensed to hold civil ceremonies or you can get married at St Giles Church – just 100m from the entrance to Newington House. Inside the house, the Drawing room has capacity for 30 guests and the Portico has capacity for 250.
For outdoor celebrations, there’s plenty of space for a marquee or teepees, if you’d like to give your wedding a more rustic feel.
The 17th century splendour of Newington House makes it a perfect backdrop for your wedding photos.
Old Luxters Barn
Old Luxters Barn is situated within the award-winning Chiltern Valley Winery, Brewery, B&B and Vineyard, near Henley on Thames in the Oxfordshire countryside.
Every wedding photographer will love this rustic 17th century Barn, which can accommodate up to 100 seated guests for ceremonies and a further 50 for evening celebrations.
The venue is open all year-round and the vineyard provides a unique backdrop for wedding photos. Accommodation is available in the farmhouse overlooking the vineyard.
Shiplake College

Occupying 45 acres of countryside, Shiplake College is a Victorian wedding venue on the banks of the river at Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. The Great Hall can accommodate up to 200 guests for a ceremony whilst the Old Library hosts up to 60.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer a religious ceremony, the Church of St Peter and St Paul is just 100 yards away.
St Cross College Oxford
St Cross College is a graduate college of the University of Oxford. It’s also a superb location for a small to mid-size wedding reception. You can find St Cross College in the heart of the city, on St Giles.
Behind its attractive stone facade, you’ll find a beautiful quadrangle setting, ideal for hosting an intimate celebration.
St Cross shares its location with Pusey House Chapel. If you live in the parish or you’re a former student of the college, you can also marry in Pusey House Chapel.
The college offers easy access to all Park & Ride bus routes and is just 10-minutes walk from Oxford train station.
Stonor Park
Stonor Park, close to Henley-on-Thames has been the home of the Stonor family for more than eight centuries. Today it also provides an historic backdrop for weddings and events.
The site has a 13th century private chapel where up to 80 guests can witness your ceremony. Within the stunning grounds, a marquee can be erected for your wedding breakfast and evening entertainment, accommodating more than 200 guests.
There is no accommodation available inside the house but the park has a relationship with a local Teepee supplier that can set up accommodation in the grounds.
Temple Island

Temple Island is a beautiful riverside location, ideal for a wedding day. The location is situated a mile and a half downstream from the pretty market town of Henley-on-Thames and access to the island is by boat – you choose the size and style.
Whatever you decide Temple Island will provide you with a memorable experience. The island can accommodate 40 guests inside the temple or 120 guests in a marquee.
You can host your ceremony, either in the Etruscan room or outdoors on the front lawn. The venue doesn’t have its own celebrant but can recommend a local celebrant to conduct your ceremony.
The Bay Tree Hotel

The Bay Tree Hotel in Burford is a charming rustic wedding venue, nestled in the Cotswold Hill close to the River Windrush.
Its wonderful 16th century facade will set your heart fluttering with romance of the venue.
One of the most intimate wedding settings you’ll find in Burford, the Bay Tree Hotel is ideal for small weddings up to 12 people but can also accommodate 85 guests for an indoor or outdoor ceremony.
The Crazy Bear

The Crazy Bear in Stadhampton is an exotic and opulent wedding venue full of eastern promise.
From the outside, the Crazy Bears looks like a tiny country pub but prepare to be dazzled by the interior and the capacity of the venue which can accommodate up to 300 guests for civil ceremonies and receptions.
The rear of the property opens up to secluded gardens, along with 80 acres of farmland and woodland where you can host an outdoor wedding ceremony if you prepare.
The Great Barn
Surrounded by three picturesque lakes, and set in 250 acres of stunning wooded estate, The Great Barn is another romantic venue in the Oxfordshire countryside.
The 18th-century barn is comprised of two adjoining rooms – the Aynho Room and the Croughton Room. Both rooms are licensed for civil ceremonies. And both capture the rustic charm of a barn location with their exposed beams and arrow slit windows. They also feature french doors opening up onto splendid gardens.
The Croughton Room can seat up to 140 guests for a formal meal and 200 for an evening reception. The Aynho Room has the bar as well as log fires and comfy leather sofas which make it ideal for a cosy winter wedding as well.
There is also a separate dressing room where you can prepare for you day.
On the day of your wedding, you have full, exclusive use of the venue so you can wander wherever you like.
The Great Barn is located on the Oxfordshire-Northamptonshire border within easy access of the M40.
The Oxfordshire
The Oxfordshire Hotel and Spa is a contemporary wedding venue nestled in landscaped gardens with views extending for miles across the countryside, providing wonderful photo opps. You enter the property along a tree-lined driveway that leads to a modern portico at the front of building.
The venue is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and has capacity for up to 200 guests. All of its luxury wedding suites lead onto an elevated terrace overlooking the hotel’s championship golf course, where you and your guests can enjoy a remarkable sunset as well as those all-important wedding photographs.
In addition to a champion golf course, the Oxfordshire has 46 executive bedrooms and four luxury suites, plus a spa with treatment rooms and poolside facilities.
The Trout at Tadpole Bridge
For a charming Cotswold wedding, the Trout at Tadpole Bridge is an absolute winner. That beautiful stone facade will give you the perfect backdrop for pics and romance is guaranteed with a waterside wedding ceremony in the gazebo.
There’s even space to moor your boat if you’d like to arrive in style via the river.
On a rainy day, you can still have an outdoor ceremony under the Trout’s fully open tipi which can seat up to 65 guests for a ceremony and wedding breakfast.
The Tythe Barn Launton

The Tythe Barn at Launton is a 14th century thatched barn near Bicester in Oxfordshire. The barn is a family run business hosting weddings and corporate events. Licensed for civil ceremonies, you can choose to get married in an outdoor wedding in the gardens or a romantic indoor ceremony in the main barn.
The Tythe Barn and the adjoining Cowshed can seat between 40 and 165 guests for your wedding breakfast, with space for an additional 50 guests in the evening. If you’re having a larger wedding, the barn can also accommodate a marquee on the grounds.
When it comes to bridal preparations, The Nook provides a luxurious area for getting ready in style. There is also a shepherd’s hut for newlyweds that would like to spend their first night of married life at the venue.
Voco Oxford Thames

Voco Oxford Thames is a 15th Century manor house surrounded by medieval barns and set in 30 acres of gardens next to the River Thames. The venue has a number of options for your ceremony, including an enchanting riverside gazebo, a characterful barn, two larger suites and a conservatory. In all, the venue can accommodate up to 200 guests for your ceremony and evening reception.
With its fine architecture, location and features like the ornate Saint John’s College Barge, the Voco Oxford Thames offers a rich vein of creative photo opportunities. It also offers guest accommodation in 104 beautifully appointed bedrooms.
Whately Hall Hotel
The Mercure Banbury Whately Hall Hotel is a wonderful historic setting for any wedding celebration.
For a stylish wedding ceremony with between 70 and 120 guests, choose from the 17th century charm of the Berkley Room or the modern convenience of the Parkside suite.
There’s a richly stocked garden to the rear of the hotel where you can host a drinks reception with guests before moving inside for your wedding breakfast.
Woolley Park
Surely one of the most glorious historic wedding venues in Oxfordshire, Woolley Park in Wantage has everything you could wish for a fairy tale wedding day.
For large indoor and outdoor weddings, Woolley Park is the ideal venue, able to play host for up to 400 guests.
Set in 3000 acres of parkland, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to picturesque backdrops and romantic settings.
