Winter Hedsor House wedding shoot | Buckinghamshire weddings
Recently, I had the great fortune to be part of a Hedsor House wedding shoot together with some remarkable suppliers that I’ll mention at the end of this blog.

It wasn’t the best of days – weather-wise – but as you’ll see in some of my Hedsor House photos, there’s no shortage of stunning indoor locations to enjoy with guests, as well as your wedding photographer.
Luxury Buckinghamshire wedding venue | Hedsor House Photos
Before we dive into the interior, I just wanted to share a few Hedsor House photos of the outside of this beautiful building along with a potted history of the place.
Hedsor House is a stunning period property, seated high above the River Thames in Taplow, South Buckinghamshire on a 100-acre estate of parkland and gardens.
The property was originally owned by the de Hedsor family, which lived in a medieval manor house in the grounds during the late 1100s.
The de Hedsors took their name from the nearby village of Hedsor, close to Bourne End.
In the 900+ years since the de Hedsors, there have been several owners of the estate, as well as several manor houses on the site.
The current manor house was built for Lord Boston IV in 1868. It was designed in the Italianate style; a style pioneered by architect John Nash during the reign of George lll and also evident in the architecture of neighbouring Cliveden House.
The parklands and estate of Hedsor House have been privately owned by the Shepherd family since 1932 and for the last 13 years, it’s been possible to hire the venue to celebrate your nuptials in a Hedsor House wedding.
Celebrating your whole day in one place | Hedsor House wedding
When you book your Hedsor House wedding, you’ve literally got everything right there. From getting ready and exchanging vows to your wedding breakfast and evening entertainment – it can all be done in the one place.
Your Hedsor House wedding includes use of the wedding suite with bridal dressing room, as well as 10 other luxurious guest bedroom suites.
The bedroom and dressing room of the wedding suite are located on the northern side of the house, giving them pleasing natural light for both makeup application and photography.
Quite often at wedding venues, there’s a great option for one half of the couple to get ready but not for the other. At Hedsor House, there are lots of excellent options for both parties.
I didn’t get a chance to see all of the bedroom suites but you can see them all on the Hedsor House wedding website.
The Dustin Suite is one option I really liked for the guys as it’s quite a masculine space. Here’s a couple of pics I took of our groom, Grant, in the Dustin Suite.
Another thing that’s great about a Hedsor House wedding, is that you get exclusive use of the venue so you don’t have to worry about uninvited hotel guests wandering into your party as can happen with hotel wedding venues.
I mention, it’s not a hotel and that is relevant because when you book your Hedsor House wedding you’re basically dry-hiring the venue, which means you’ll need to buy in all the catering and beverage services for your stay (plus china, glass, cutlery, and some linens) as well as the extras you’d expect, like cakes, flowers and decorations.
Hedsor House can recommend suppliers for all aspects of your dry hire, including catering and beverage services, which can save a lot of organisation on your part.
Of course, if you prefer to have more of a say on your wedding suppliers, you don’t have to use those recommended by the venue.
Capacity for up to 150 seated guests for your ceremony and wedding breakfast
Hedsor House is licenced for ceremonies with up to 150 seated guests. If you’d prefer a religious ceremony, St Nicholas’ of Hedsor Church is just 300 metres from the house.
For house ceremonies, you’ll need to book a registrar with Beaconsfield registry office, and for church ceremonies at St Nicholas, you’ll need to contact the rector directly.
Hedsor House has several options for an indoor ceremony but the Great Hall, with its extraordinary dome, is probably the most popular choice. You can get a sense of the double-height space from these Hedsor House photos I took this week.
Getting married at Christmas | Hedsor House photos inside the venue
There’s something wonderful about Christmas weddings and a Hedsor House wedding at Christmas has got to be like a fairy tale. Look at these beautiful decorations – and this is just the staircase.
But what a grand staircase. And what an excellent backdrop for some romantic portraits with your wedding photographer.
On the other side of the staircase, you’ll find the ballroom – a magnificent oak panelled suite, with sumptuous window dressings and three crystal chandeliers creating an opulent ambience.
During the summer months with the doors open to the patio, you’ll be able to enjoy the evening celebrations overlooking the beautiful south-facing garden.
The ballroom is typically where you’ll host your Hedsor House wedding breakfast. For our wedding shoot, we set up just one table but it gives you an idea of how beautiful the room would look when it’s setup for 150 guests.
