I love engagement shoots so I was thrilled when Shruti got in touch earlier in the year to check my availability for doing an engagement shoot with her and fiancé Will at the family home near Amersham in Buckinghamshire.
Making an engagement shoot fun
Neither Shruti nor Will are particularly fond of being photographed so they wanted the engagement shoot to be fun and relaxing with some, but not too many, romantic pics.
Using an engagement shoot to create content for your wedding
Shruti and Will’s plan for the photos was to use them on the website they were putting together for their destination wedding later in the year so we had a fairly small window for shooting..
Luckily, the weather was on our side and we found a sunny day in early April. I always offer a couple of date options for outdoor engagement shoots, in case of rain, but we lucked out with the first choice on this occasion.
The family home is a stunning property in an intimate setting just outside Amersham. Imagine waking up to this gorgeous view of the Buckinghamshire countryside.
In total, we probably spent a couple of hours outside and although it was warm in the sunshine, the temperature did fluctuate a bit – hence why Shruti has her coat on for some of the pics and not for others.
I’m just sharing a few of the engagement photos I took but hopefully you can see there was a mix of candid and gently directed portraits that showcase Shruti and Will’s personalities and their love for each other.
This next photo is one of my personal favourites from the engagement shoot. Will looks like the cool hero who’s just rescued his princess from the tower. And, FYI, his knees didn’t buckle the moment I’d taken this shot.

As Shruti and Will prepare for their destination wedding, I’d like to extend my heartfelt wishes to them. Capturing their personalities and their love during our engagement shoot was a privilege, and I’m thrilled that these photos will play a part in their wedding celebrations.
Their special day will undoubtedly be filled with beautiful moments and I’m excited to see how my images will enhance their wedding website and invitations. Congratulations, Shruti and Will, and best wishes for a wonderful life together.
