Magnolia Park Wedding
A Magnolia Park wedding provided the perfect tonic to the end of wedding season blues in Buckinghamshire.
A wedding venue with breath-taking views of Buckinghamshire countryside
When Emma and Lawrence invited me to photograph their Magnolia Park wedding in 2022, I was delighted to accept. I first met the couple when I photographed Emma’s sister’s wedding at the Oxfordshire in 2021 and it’s always a thrill to be recommended.
Magnolia Park sits just outside the market town of High Wycombe, on a six-acre plot, surrounded by the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside of Hughenden Park and close to Hughenden Manor, home of UK prime minister Benjamin Disraeli during the 19th century.
In addition to being an events venue, Magnolia Park is also a sport centre, complete with football nets and pitch markings. From a photography perspective this does make it slightly more challenging but I knew I could still capture some stunning images, I just needed to pick my locations carefully.
Bright yellow sunflowers and a blue camper van where the inspiration for their wedding colour scheme; Emma and Lawrence were keen to see both objects featured in the photos.
Unfortunately, in the run up to the wedding, we’d had a lot of rain so on the day they weren’t allowed to drive the camper van into the field. All the same, I was still able to capture a few portraits with the camper van near the entrance to Magnolia Park.
Hughenden Park was central to their love story
Emma and Lawrence got engaged during the lockdown of 2021. At that time, we were only allowed to meet people from other households at outdoor locations. For Emma and Lawrence, Buckinghamshire’s Hughenden Park became their special meeting place.
Not surprisingly then, both were keen to feature Hughenden Park in their wedding photos, particularly since it was next door to where they would host their Magnolia Park wedding.
When I met up with them in March 2022 to chat through some of the details, we had planned to travel deeper into the park on their wedding day but then we got the wonderful news that Emma was pregnant so it was necessary to rein in the creativity (and the walking) a little bit. Here are a few of the pics I took close to the wedding venue in Hughenden Park.
Magnolia Park wedding confetti
When it comes to confetti, there’s no shortage of space to create a confetti tunnel for your Magnolia Park wedding. Although you do have to be a bit careful on the deck if it’s been raining as this does get slippery.
As far as I know, Magnolia Park is not licenced for wedding ceremonies but it can definitely host your wedding reception; larger receptions can be held in a marquee in the grounds at the rear while smaller wedding breakfasts of around 60 people can be catered inside the venue.
Emma and Lawrence’s wedding breakfast was mostly family so the indoor space worked fine.
The venue has two main rooms, one that can be used for your Magnolia Park wedding breakfast and a further room with dance floor and access to the rear grounds and deck area.
At night the decking is light up with fairylights and can be quite pretty for a few creative portraits.
