Endeavour Woodland Weddings Photographer

Endeavour Woodland Weddings is a family-run venue on the edge of the historic Buckinghamshire village of Swanbourne.

Set in beautiful natural woodland, and surrounded by glorious Buckinghamshire countryside, Endeavour Woodland Weddings provides a perfect setting for a romantic wedding with family and friends.

The entrance to Endeavour Woodland Weddings is accessed via Dodd Hills Barn; you drive through the barn car park and guest parking for Endeavour is provided in a field just beyond.

To reach the main woodland venue, you walk along a delightful tree lined path. This is also the path usually taken for the bride’s entrance. In the photos below you can see it from either end.

At the end of the pathway, you enter the ceremony area, which features this striking oak archway where you’ll exchange your wedding vows.

I took this next photo of the ceremony area during a scouting visit to Endeavour but on a wedding day, there won’t be cars parked in the background.

Although there’s plenty of places to roam on the site, one of the first things that strikes you about Endeavour Woodland Weddings is the intimacy of this beautiful, tranquil setting. As an Endeavour Woodland weddings photographer, I found this lends itself to some truly romantic portraiture.

It also provides you with a host of opportunities for candid natural shots throughout the day.

Couples celebrating at Endeavour, have exclusive use of the woodland and buildings, which include a covered dance area, celebration hall, bell tent, bar and, in case you’re wondering, permanently sited toilet facilities.

The venue can accommodate up to 68 guests during the day and 100 for a night time reception. If you’re having a ceremony at the venue, you might find it helpful to know that one of the owners is an accredited humanist celebrant although, if you prefer to make your own arrangements, that’s fine too.

Confetti and Lakeside Family Photos

One feature I noticed about ceremony area is that it works really well for confetti if you have it immediately after the ceremony.

Although I’m not a massive fan of group photos, it’s important for a lot of couples to have them and, together with your Endeavour Woodland Weddings photographer, you can capture some happy family and friends’ photos against this lovely lakeside backdrop.

Endeavour Woodland Weddings is a location with numerous stunning portrait opportunities for you and your wedding photographer.

In August, the light under the tree canopy is quite blue up until mid-afternoon, but by about 3.30pm onwards it starts to warm up making it quite flattering for portraits. This is one venue where I’d certainly recommend holding your ceremony as late in the day as possible to get the best light you can for any photos you’re having.

The firepit at Endeavour Woodland Weddings

I mentioned earlier that the venue can accommodate 60 or so guests for a ceremony, that’s also true for the wedding breakfast accommodation which is fairly compact, making it quite difficult to navigate for photos during the speeches.

One solution to this is to have your speeches around the firepit next to the dining accommodation. Apart from giving you the candid style shots you probably want, it’ll also make it easy for those moments to be captured by your Endeavour Woodland Weddings photographer.

Sunset photography with your Endeavour Woodland Weddings photographer

As sunset approaches, the light through the trees and around the lake becomes quite beautiful for portraits.

As you can see from this silhouette, the sun sets towards the top right hand-side of the lake. This particular photo was taken at around 7pm. After that time, you can still enjoy golden hour but the sun will start to disappear behind the hedgerows.

First dance photography | Endeavour Woodland Weddings photographer

For evening entertainment, Endeavour has a sheltered dance floor close to the rest of the venue’s facilities. The dance floor is subtly lit with fairy lights along the perimeter. The photo you see below is lit with a combination of flash and fairy lights provided by me.

Much like the dining area, the dance floor is fairy compact so if you’re having a band or a DJ, I imagine they’d need to be outside the dance floor.

Endeavour nights

At night, the pathway leading from the entrance to the venue and other areas around the site is lit up with fairy lights. If you’ve booked your Endeavour Woodland weddings photographer for later in the day, this might be something you’d like to use for a couple of night portraits.
