The Oxfordshire Hotel Wedding Photographer
The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel and Spa sits on a 300-acre golf course, surrounded by beautiful Oxford countryside.
Welcome
The Oxfordshire
The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel and Spa Wedding Photographer
To reach the property, you travel along a tree-lined driveway. If you’re getting married towards the end of April, the trees will be covered in white blossom giving you a great opportunity for a few beautiful blossom portraits with your wedding photographer.
At night, the driveway is also illuminated so with a bit of imagination, your photos could be spectacular.
So far, it’s mostly rained when I’ve been to the Oxfordshire but what that tells me is it’s a great location for wedding photography, come rain or shine. Of course, the better the weather, the fewer restrictions there’ll be for accessing different parts of the course.
The venue itself, is a fairy contemporary looking building; largely designed to take advantage of the surrounding views.
The glazed front elevation of the Oxfordshire Golf Hotel is covered by a large modern portico so if it does rain on your big day, there’s no reason you can’t still have some glamorous outdoor pics with your wedding photographer.
Last time I was there, I was about to take a rain shot from the entrance when the clouds disappeared and a beautiful sunset took their place so I took the photo instead.
If you’ve booked your photographer for an 8-10-hour day, it might be worth investing a bit of time to capture some portraits inside the building as well.
The chandelier near the entrance provides a few opportunities, as does the staircase. It’s also worth considering the Lakes Lounge for portraits around the bar and taking it the panoramic view.
One of the things I appreciate as a wedding photographer is the ability to photograph an entire wedding in one place – it’s just a bit less to worry about.
The Oxfordshire Golf Hotel and Spa offers you just that – you can get ready, get married and have your wedding breakfast and evening celebrations all under one roof.
Getting ready at the venue | Oxfordshire Hotel wedding photographer
When it comes to bridal prep and getting ready at the Oxfordshire, the hotel has four luxury suites; two in a red/brown and cream theme, one in charcoal/light grey tones, and the other a pastel and aqua blue combo.
I’ve seen the grey suite and the blue one so I can say with confidence that your photographer is sure to appreciate the north-facing aspect of these particular rooms.
In case you didn’t know, a northern aspect gives you beautiful soft light to capture those candid moments as you get ready and a few portraits before the ceremony.
Apart from its suites, the Oxfordshire also has 46 bedrooms, ideal for guests wanting to enjoy your celebrations without having to drive home.
Exchanging your vows | Oxfordshire Hotel wedding photographer
The Oxfordshire is licensed to hold civil ceremonies on site. The hotel has a maximum capacity of 200 wedding guests but also has suites suitable for smaller more intimate gatherings.
All of its wedding suites lead onto the first-floor terrace overlooking the hotel’s golf course.
If you’ve got a smaller wedding party, the terrace can be a good location for both confetti photos and groups.
For larger groups, it may make more sense to move the party to ground level.
Photos around the grounds of the Oxfordshire Golf Hotel and Spa
As I mentioned earlier, I’ve yet to work at the hotel on a sunny day so I know you can get beautiful photos at the venue whatever the weather.
However, if you are lucky enough to get a dry sunny day, particularly if it’s been dry over a period of time, the hotel will allow you to access more areas of the golf course for wedding photos. The hotel will also provide you with golf buggies for getting around and a member of staff to guide you.
Hosting your wedding breakfast | Oxfordshire wedding photos
All of the suites currently used for weddings at the Oxfordshire have a similar decorative design with light-coloured ceilings and full-height wood-panelled walls. From a photographic perspective, this does mean your photos will look fairly warm in colour.
If you like a few images in black and white, they can definitely add to the atmosphere of the venue.
Sunset photos at the Oxfordshire Hotel & Spa
Although it rained all day the last time I was at the hotel, I did get to see a sunset just before I was leaving the Oxfordshire and it’s pretty spectacular. On a dry sunny day, there are so many beautiful places to shoot the sunset, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
If it’s great weather the next time I’m there, I’ll certainly be keen to explore some twilight silhouettes and sunset portraits down by the lake and under the canopy of some of the trees.
